was hoping my kid will pick up mandarin however she is picking up Singlish and bad habits like fighting in class & having her arm bent behind her back.
I might have to teach my daughter some kongfu skills from the tibetian tribe to survive in this school.
principal was replaced and quite a few teachers left. really disruptive to my kids education.
The kids also spend too much time practicing for a mindless concert at every term. what's worse is, for a mandarin speaking school my kid cant even speak mandarin properly inspite of "the high mandarin exposure" claimed on one registration banner i saw recently as I picked her up from school.
I feel the powers that be in the school spend too much time on the year end school concert instead of teaching the kids the required skills for primary one.
some english teachers cant even speak english properly, PCK sdn bhd can do better, do ask to interview the english teacher to see if you are comfortable before putting your kid in this school.
for your info the current principal left NAFA arts kindergarten from down the road to join after the old principal left. so she has tried to model the school like NAFA, like arts and such.
however the arts from kinder arts is a real misrepresentation, all looks clearly assisted by kinder art teachers not real work done by students.
so if you do sign up, you have to pay extra to sign up for a whole host of extra classes like gym, art, drama, etc.
the drama teacher from Julia Gabriel looks clearly bored when she is teaching the kids. very cynical if you do come late for class, so i guess your child will either be good at retort or be cynical in primary 1 :>
other issue to note I saw one teacher caning a young nursery girl with a ruler on her knuckles, quite barbaric i don't even treat the criminal master mind joker that way, :> should have taken a video with my batcam and posted it on youtube.
another instance I saw a teacher using a toy hammer that make a sound when you hit something to beat a child in the school.
its no wander they introduced the new glass barrier system to stop parents from dropping off kids at classes. its to keep us from seeing torture being met out to the kids.
the school is abit old in its ways of discipline & teaching style, cant blame them, seems to be run by a bevy of old frustrated ladies.
heard there was a long queue for Nursery and K1 registration, fear not for the Lord is with you, he will guide you and protect you, and lead you to better schools....there are better schools out there
I'm just glad my kid is leaving end of this year must have been real torture for her, I'm so sad I didnt trust my bat sense and pulled her out of this silly school earlier.

Just wondering why you didn't withdraw your kid earlier if you think it is a real torture for her (poor girl) and with all the displeasures that you have mentioned. You mean you need 2 or 3 years to realise your kid is suffering in school. Oh no.......

I'm also one of the parent in Holy Grace, just wondering how you manage to know what happened in class as the Kindergarten had implemented drop off at level 1 lobby since the onset of H1N1. Since all the classrooms are in level 2, you must have some kind of "Super" eyes!!
For your info, my 2 children has been attending Holy Grace and there isn't a day when they are unwiling to go to school. They adore their teachers and I have seem so much improvement in their language development! WEll, I am not sure of your girl's teacher, but my kids tells me all the time that their teachers are fun.
I think you should speak with the Principal if you have such concern.

I currently have 2 girls at Holy Grace Kindergarten. Like PK, my girls love the school and their teachers.
My daughter who refused and did not speak any mandarin started singing and talking to me in mandarin within the 1st 3 months she went to Holy Grace. Moreover, I think education or learning a language is not as simple as just sending them to a school or learning centre and expect a miracle to happen, many of the extended learning is through reinforced teaching and encouragement at home.
There is no perfect school in this world. You decide base on your own value and evaluation of your child's progress. I am amazed that it took you 3 years to realize that your kid is not learning and unhappy there.
I encourage any parents who have issues with the school to feedback accordingly. I believe constructive suggestions or feedback are always welcomed by the school.
Concur totally with bruce wayne.
English is appalling. English teacher speaks Singlish. Chinese teachers are just there to do their jobs. Most teachers look like they've been there since their first job! None of the teachers look happy there. The attitude of teachers transcend from the core head of the school - the principal.
Don't bother talking to the principal. She's totally hopeless. No management skill. Dresses like an office person. Perhaps she's in the wrong job! No hands on attitude if teachers are absent.
If you don't sign your kid up for extra like computer or gym, your poor child will end up just running chaos in class as teachers are just busy doing their own stuff. Spend a little to let them learn something rather than nothing and join in the rowdy run around or screams they have while other children are at their paid classes.
The strong mandarin curriculum isn't that fantastic. Go for bilingual kindergartens. It's more effective. There are so many other good kindergartens down the road from holy grace. As the saying goes. You get what you pay for.
Good luck to those who send their children there. There are better kindergartens out there.
from my own reading of the principals actions and with my mind reading & bat sense, I can probe her mind and know she is just just stuffing her resume, she wont last as long as the previous principal.
Pity the kids going into Holy Grace. Try Presbyterian Church down the road. School environment looks better, English teacher speaks proper English, not PCK Sdn Bhd English.
If you have already paid, is ok only 10wks and you can switch to another school.
use the 10wks to look for a school more deserving of your hard earn $$$ and environment that is not like cowboy town where kids misbehave and are involved in fights all the time.
your kid also deserves better, I feel its actually the parents involved in the school that is making up for the deficiencies of school.
