I think I know who you are, Righteous. You too have your complaints abt the frequent excursions (in S'pore) and recently about the HK Disneyland de-tour trip.

Memory may have failed me about the 80-20% / 60-40% Chinese weightage bcos when I signed up my younger child back into HG, I did not go through the usual process of meeting the principal and reading thru the handbook as what NEW parents do. I had such strong faith in HG due to my older child's experience that I just went into the office to hand in a cheque immediately. However, as the terms progress, I noticed that there are differences between the kindy in earlier years and the kindy now. Thus I felt most disappointed and cheated. Whatever grouses between teachers and principal, should be ironed out without affecting the kids. Why don't I withdraw my child from the kindy? Well, she's happy with all her friends there, and does not realise what will happen when she enters primary level. I am in the midst of "pleading" with the principal to change her ways. She is aware of things said about her, but I do believe that both her and the teachers are equally at fault.

Righteous, St Hilda primary school has over 120+ teachers. Please do not compare to a small establishment like Holy Grace. If 'Another Surprise' is correct, having 3 teachers leaving HG in one term is a high percentage. The only remaining pioneer teacher is Mdm Chiam.

Another thing about 'china teacher leaving due to visa problem'... the china teacher is still in Sg, working elsewhere.

Has the Principal offended you in some ways? Your feedback does not seem constructive but more to destory the school and the staff!!

If you are so unhappy then move on! If not be more outfront with the school and work hand in hand to improve the current situation!!

No one programme will be able to meet everybody's needs. Have you tried finding out from the school what the trip is about? I did and I think the school had put in alot of hard work to improve its already very established programme.

Hi Query, no I have no issue with the principal. I just want the best for my child. I have been trying to work with the school in fact.... If not, I wouldn't 'plead' with the principal. Pls read my comments carefully. As to moving on.... if I come to the stage that I have to take my child out, then there'll be an issue with the principal.

The principal did say that many parents left without giving her the 'real' reason why. I, on the other hand, give her lots of inputs. Perhaps those are the ones who gave up, and moved on. I'm still working and trying my best to keep my child in the kindy (for my child's sake as not to have her move here & there)... so Query, why are you getting so upset over this? Do you follow this link very closely? It took only 15 mins after I posted, and your comments came in. I understand the principal also follows the forum chats online.

its obvious no one know who really is real in this forum. Its both good and bad. Well, every parent just want the best for the child. I beleive every principal and teacher too. But probably no one can love our child more than parents yet parents are not expert in teaching. There are good and bad staff and there are also good and bad parents.

Principal and teachers can only try their best but i have seen good intentioned teachers and principals with poor capabilities (analogy is one can love swimming but not neccesary can become a national or champion swimmer). Also i hv seen parents who are really misled or misinformed thus hvg poor parenting.

At the end of the day, kindy life is part of the bigger journey of life. And life is a very long journey. Do what you can, do what you need to either parents or staff. most importantly, learn and grow and learn and grow. Become better.

    Hi all

Am a father and my child is still at HGK.

My wife and I have been praying about what to do now in view of all the negative comments, postings and feedback.

Noting that the last posting by “Happier after HG” was just yesterday, I deem the matter is yet to rest and far from being blown over. Trust me, I know as I see the faces of the staff everyday while picking my kid.

    I have the following concerns:

    1. What is going to happen if the leadership (as in the Principal) of the kindergarten decide to call it quits now? What is going to happen to all the teachers and children (mine included) that remain with the kindergarten? Are we going to witness another round of unsettling, directionless period?

    2. If my child is to change his kindergarten now, will a new environment be difficult for my child to adjust to? Pulling him out may not be the best option actually but the pressure is certainly mounting.

We do have many positive experiences with this kindy couple of years ago for my elder child. He is doing very well now in his Primary. I must say credits go to those very dedicated teachers but unfortunately, many of whom had left the kindy last year.

With my younger child now still in HGK and with all changes observed, my wife and I do feel rather uncomfortable and perplex lately.

While visiting the school, we sense there is somewhat a lack of cohesiveness among the staff of the kindy and this may be attributed to the evolving teaching methods, new cirriculums and perhaps further worsened by all the comments and postings made about the Principal and her management style.

I pray that the Board of the Kindergarten could consider Taking a Step Back, Be Still, Listen and Consider Going Back to Fundamentals whereby GOD is in focus…aside from Mandarin of course!

Hopefully, we could remind ourselves to have the “more of Him and less of me” attitude. I trust if that basic focus is aligned top down, God will make HGK turn around.

As the saying goes, “To Err is Human, To Forgive Divine”. Am glad to read that the Editor’s son has “forgiven his principal” (How gracious!! Am really proud of him. We should really learn from you.)

Meanwhile, we are praying and looking for alternative kindergarten that is suitable for our child but we are also praying that HGK will make a good comeback by letting God take the wheel.

I do hope for those Christian parents with kids in HGK to also consider praying for the kindy.

Personally, let's be practical. We hv one chance to put our children thru kindy, school etc. They hv one year and time does not wait for anyone. Management issues take time to resolve. Assume they resolve by next year, you child will not be there anymore. If the conditiOn in the school is bad, it's time to move on. My views.

I am new to HGK and it saddens my heart after reading some of the comment posted. Nevertheless, I would like to share that since school starts, my child is very happy and looks forwards going to school daily. I have observed that my child's teacher Mrs Bell is caring and bubbly. My child looks forward to her hugs and greetings in the morning.

I have no complains thus far with it programme or curriculum. I have also spoken to another mum whose child is in K2 class and is also new to the school, she said the same that her child enjoys the lessons and activities and she felt she should have send her child earlier as her child is attempting to speak mandarin at home now!

I guess, no one programme fits all! I am thankful to the staff of HGK... keep up the spirit! There are many more who appreciates your effort!
