dont waste time on this school, my daughter spent one term in nursery, and when I went to her class one day, the 2 class teachers were sitting down, all her classmates were at the table doing nothing day dreaming. I think the teachers were half asleep taking a sleep break.

do more research, sometimes paying more doesnt result in better schools or teachers.

    great site you have here.

I might need to use my Dark powers to find school worth sending money on. otherwise might as well homeschool.

Interesting. Never know young children at nursery could sit down and day dream for long. Did you try to find out more or is it your perception that the teachers were half asleep? With that many young children in class, who could actually be half asleep??

Sure, more money does not guarantee better teachers. However, how do you define better?? You should find out from the teachers and speak to the principle if you are thinking that all the children are just day dreaming.

    Hi,

    My two cents worth:

Opinions tend to be subjective when it comes to selecting which preschool is the best for your child.

Think the best thing to do is to listen to the myriad of views with an open mind and go down and take a look for yourself. Go a few times if you have to.

Indeed, I have been cautioned by some frds about kinderland, but I do believe that sometimes "what may not work for you may work for others", so if kinderland works for April's child then, so be it. If it doesn't for Darth Vader, then I believe there is a better preschool out there for her child.

A personal example: CH is v highly regarded. Indeed, I hve frds who have kids there and are happy. However, I didn't get that 'special and positive' vibe when I went to view the place and spoke to the pple. No doubt, it has a good programme, however, its just not for me/my son.

Once again, with due respect, my two cents worth.

    my 1 cent worth;

well most people will comment when its either extremely positive or negative.

for me the experience was negative.

for your info I did mention it to the principal and it didnt improve, so I changed my kid to a changed my kid to a kindergarten and sent to enrichment instead.

I feel the level of pay in the industry doesnt bring in the right level or teachers with enough drive or love of the childs development or wealfare, alot of times the realationship is commercial. smiles are lip service.

its cynical but reality. dont waste money sent to enrichment for english & chinese & maths

for english dont send to "I can read" the only thing good about it is the name, :> but that's for another thread.

i agree with ip... there are schools to suit each and every parent and child's need. i believe that communication is a key factor in building strong parent-teacher relationships and as such, it's good to constantly touch base with the teacher regarding the progress of our children so that we can work hand in hand for the benefit of our own children. it is important to keep an open mind and not be influenced by what we see or hear. i suggest bringing your children down to visit the centre. see how they react to the environment. hang around the playground or somewhere else to observe how the teachers interact with the children. a true tell tale sign would be how the children in class respond and relate to their teacher. do look out for these signs whenever look for a suitable school for your child & do keep an open mind.

hi, i am in yishun. i have 3 year old son. now he is studying in apple tree yishun, and need to register for nursery next year in different school. i want to know which is the best school for nursery in yishun ?

    • Preschool Watcher says:

      Dear Roji,

Do u like shopping? finding a good preschool is also the same. Since u hv shorted ur options to a particular district in tis case Yishun then list out all d childcare centers there. Cannot base on emotion ok? Muz do some walking n talking.

Next create a criterion score to indicate factors tat matter to u e.g. Cost, distance, learning styles, facilities, teachers, Mgmt, and etc. Bring tis wif u as u visit these school to hear their sales pitch. I said sales pitch right? Go during weekdays wen it's running so u cld see normal daily operations. During open house they can hide many things. Watchout for those factors n make mental notes of ur observation. Tis will hlp u pose difficult questions for them e.g. reveal any hidden costs (extra enrichment lessons or holiday programs or excursion or year end concerts), Chinese teachers r AT or T or ST, meals catered or cooked, learning styles, check out students' work especially portfolios, and etc.

Ur little one not happy at apple tree?
Well there r better ones but muz prepare to pay.aim thinking whether to give u some options...
