For the benefit of Violet and Lin, who have lots of favourable comments of the centre and in case they are the management of the centre, I would like to clarify that I have asked the teacher why she did not mark the workbook. She explained, 'Your son has put his workbook on the shelf but not on my table. I was not aware that he has completed his workbook.' When I pointed her handwriting on the cover to her 'COMPLETED, TO KEEP AT HOME'. She said she has overlooked because she was busy. She told me to leave the book with her and she will try to find time from her busy schedule to mark the book. For those who love this centre very much, I can indicate the teacher's name on this space if they asked for it.

If violet and lin are management of the centre, their opinions on the recent posts are true illustrations of what I have commented earlier. They received comments by finding fault on the children. The teachers and management are always right. For parents who do not complain, the parents are at fault. And for parents who complains, they are advised to withdraw their children from the centre. But if violet mummy complains, she is most welcome.

It is right for teachers to scold children early in the morning. It is right for teachers not to mark workbook. It is right for teachers to give children very little worksheets. It is right for teacher to tell parents not to send their children to the centre if they do not participate in the concert. The teachers and management are always right.

Hmm, knew this will come up some day. Wonder since when has this forum become a –ve feedbacks only forum? All must be unhappy parents otherwise one must be the management if one posts anything +ve? It’s so ridiculous. There can’t be genuine happy parents around with the sch?

Who are the ones that are not receptive to comments and feedbacks now?

I’m sure many who read these are not as close minded as some. The intellectual ones will ponder and draw their own conclusions.

For the record, I find that my kids are not treated any differently from any other kids in the ctr. They gets disciplined when they’re mischievous or did anything wrong. And also for the record, I’m just a regular parent to the sch and yes, I’m one of the happy ones around (^-^)

If one chooses to think otherwise, I have no control over one's mind.

Every child's ability is different thus I do not expect my kid to do the same amount of worksheets as his classmates 'cos Montessori is based on individual child's ability to progress. Frankly I do not know if the worksheets/workbooks that my son has done are considered a lot or little? As long as he is learning well and loves going to sch, i'm fine with it.

I am always vocal not just to the sch, but in other areas as well. And I prefer to work with the sch directly to resolve any doubts that I have rather than hide behind a nick and defame the sch. What do I achieve? I'd still be unhappy and worry about my kid's wellbeing there. Then I think I'll be better off with my kid in another ctr.

If one is dissatisfied with the respond of the teacher then that shd be brought up to the principal. Having said this, I believe there will be comeback on this topic.... lol

And for those who dislike this center so much, I seriously wonder why their kid(s) are still there? Why not make an effort to make the pre-school experience more pleasant by working together with the sch or maybe shd just change to another centre that meets the needs of the child/parent. I think any sane person would suggest this logical step, if it’s the mgmt I think they would prefer to keep their customers.

Personally, I feel that what I’ve said so far is fair. Moving forward, I guess I have nothing new to add ‘cos this seems nvr ending as ‘someone’ will always post something again.

All that I’ve done so far is being open with the sch and maintaining good communications with the sch and not having overly high expectations on what my kids can achieve at this early stage of their lives. But I’m happy n pleased that they both progresses very well to-date and is still happy with the sch, period.

It’s not easy to master the art of communications and I’m still learning but whatever skills I have in this area has served me well so far.

To all the unfortunate parents, my heart goes all out to you. May your children be blessed. They will grow up to be wonderful people. The clock can never be turned back for your precious. Lord will punish the evils.

This school is too much. My little girl returned home crying that she did not want to return to the centre again. There was cockroach under the table during lunch. The teacher chased after the creature with a can of insecticide and it crawled up my girl's leg.

For goodness sake, please do not comment that I did not open my mouth to complain to the principal and teachers. Complain what is the cockroach doing in the child care centre? Someone needs to show the kids what is cockroach. Why the children need insecticide for lunch?

If the management and teachers are ignorant of the power of cockroach and insecticide, they can experiment the effects by adding both items to their own lunch.

Many thanks to the creator of this website. This issue has been with me for some time. I have no idea who to write to until I came here.

Montessori is a teaching method that do not require lots of worksheet like pcf. It involved the child's involvment with the montessori materials to understand language, math etc. It is learning through hand-on experience and play. It judge each child's ability individually.

If you like to see lots of worksheet, then a montessori school should not be your choice. Change to a pcf.

    Hi Pan,

I have been to a few montessori centre who used quite a bit of worksheets.

Montessori in Singapore is not "quality controlled". Anyone can call themselves a montessori centre and use that word. Many centres owners have given in to parents demands and introduced worksheets etc.

I advocate all parents to visit the centres and choose one centre for your child that fits him/her and fits what you believe is good for your child. Its an individual choice but make an informed choice by visiting the centres and talking to the Principal, teachers and parents there.
