Thanks you, very nice news!
My son was in K1 last year. One of the fat teacher there was very rude. Always saw her shouting at children and scolding children with bad remarks. Thru out the whole year, my son did not bring back a single worksheet. I withdraw my son cos their teacher is on maternity leave and no substitute teacher for K2 class this year. The fee is MMI comparable and facilities is worse than PCF.
It depends on the teacher how much worksheet they let the children practice. Even in the same centre, some teachers do a lot of worksheets whereas some others don't. Hence I feel that it is not due to the fact that the centre is using Montessori method. It is the teacher that makes the difference! I also withdraw my child recently.
I am a trained early childhood educator. I do agree with Pan. Furthermore, most of the preschool centres in Singapore does not incorporate much worksheets during lessons. Both PCF and Montessori has its pros and cons. Thus choose wisely. I suggest that for future parents, do check out MOE or MCYS (Childcarelink) website for info on preschool centres before enrolling your child. Thus in any case, the management turn a deaf ear to you / ignoring your demands / request, you have the opportunity to write in to MOE/MCYS for them to look into it.
As a parent, we rely on the worksheets to gauge our children's learning in school. Many times, I find that the principal or teacher made great comments about the childcare but it deviates from what they practice. I transferred my child to another childcare and am very happy with my decision. I urge all parents to do more research before making the selection.
anyone, any idea wat is the 1 located in punggol plaza like?? heard tat there was an over night change in them due to the new management staff! is it ture? i m new in this area!
I'm shock to read all these posts, n find myself able to relate to most of these ' unhappy' incidents. Have to agree to KPT, Karen, all the Angry moms...because my child had experienced same things.
Things that happen behind the scence (annual concert ) is true; as I get the same feedback from my child. All this while, I thought the teachers can't be that " unreasonable", so never clarify the matter with the school, but now....I'm FURIOUS!!! As the annual concert is approaching soon...I'll see what food/ drink they are going to serve these tired- young children.
Yes, a few teachers n the management staff have attitute problem. I think most parents I met during PTM n birthday party have the same remarks.:(
Just to be fair, my child did show us many "school work/ activity" this year. Nothing to complaint about this area.
Violet ask why not withdraw from the school? If I've read /confirmed these posts earlier....do u think I'll let my child stay? Definately no more after 2010 and no younger siblings in the future!
Is the sk branch or punggol plaza? Becos my boy is going to start sch next mth in punggol. It make me ponder hard whether should I go ahead with it or to look for other sch. This is really bad to hear all this. I am lost. Pls anyone advise me wat to do.
Fran,
Both their childcare centre n Montessori at PP shares the same management.
Do your own research. It is important for u to talk to parents who have kids in the centre for feedback. Talking to the school teachers or principle is useless because they always painted a nice picture (from my own experience)
Not all parents have the same expectation. You can be very happy with the centre but some might not. I happen to be the one who get " really angry" when I saw these postings recently because they confirm all my doubts n concerns. Now, I "really" take my child's "feedback" seriously rather than another" child's talk".
